The Gorilla Theatre Turns Sweet Sixteen!
We're about to celebrate our sixteenth season of living theatre for thinking minds!
In honor of this, our "sweet" sixteenth season, the Gorilla's prices will remain unchanged (for example, the Gorilla Pass six shows and six drinks is still only $90, or $75 for seniors, and a Senior ticket is still just $15 on Thursdays).
Nowhere else in the Tampa Bay area can you see award-winning professional theatre at our very modest prices.
Please consider allocating some of your government stimulus check to treat yourself to a Gorilla Pass. It's definitely the best deal in town and you can use it right away for YDP '08 or save it for the new season.

The Gorilla Theatre's 2008-09 season
September 4-21, 2008
AN OAK TREE
By Tim Crouch
Prepare to have your perception of truth challenged by this highly unusual play about loss, suggestion and the power of the mind. Many "truths" are conveyed from one actor to another, from a hypnotist to their subject, from the audience to an individual, as the story is revealed.
Uniquely, one of the two actors in An Oak Tree is different every night, and that actor has no prior knowledge of the script.
Featured actors will be announced in July check the schedule and book a ticket to see your favorite actor and there will be talkbacks after every performance.
October 23-November 9, 2008
MAD FOREST
By Caryl Churchill
An incisive portrait of society in turmoil that focuses on two families to reveal what life is like under a totalitarian regime and what results when the regime collapses.
Set in post-communist Romania but bursting with universal resonances the play's brief scenes are almost cinematic in their presentation of events as seen by ordinary people trying to live in peace.
"Churchill's strengths are evident: her sharp, unpredictable eye, her inventiveness, her unsentimental sympathy." London Times.
December 4-21, 2008
SIX DEGREES OF SEPARATION
By John Guare
When a young African-American stranger arrives at the door of a NYC society dinner party and claims to be the son of actor Sidney Poitier, the plot takes an unexpected turn.
An extraordinary tragicomedy of race, class and manners inspired by an actual incident reported by The New York Times in 1983, Six Degrees of Separation is a commentary on the things that drive us all the desire for wealth, fame, social standing, and meaningful human connection.
"The plot is full of twists...every line comes at you like a screwball or a split-fingered fastball." The New Yorker
Feb. 12 - Mar. 1, 2009
A BODY OF WATER
By Lee Blessing
An attractive, middle-aged couple wakes up one morning in an isolated summerhouse above a picturesque body of water. The weather's fine; the view's magnificent; but there's only one problem neither of them can remember who they are.
"... a play rich in ideas about memory, identity and fiction ..." Variety
Part comedy, part mystery, part drama, A Body of Water is a coproduction with Stageworks. Gorilla Passes and Stageworks Passes will both be valid for this play.
March 19-April 5, 2009
ELIZABETH AND EDWARD
By Aubrey Hampton
A new play by Gorilla Theatre founder Aubrey Hampton, Elizabeth and Edward dips into the history of Elizabethan England, the world of Marlowe, Bacon, and the man we call "Shakespeare".
Based on documented details in the lives of Queen Elizabeth I and Lord Edward de Vere, the 17th Earl of Oxford – and incorporating testimony from figures such as Mark Twain, Sigmund Freud and Charlie Chaplin, the play speculates that de Vere was the real author of "Shakespeare"s masterpieces.
The author will participate in talkbacks following two of the performances.
May 28-June 7, 2009
